Summit Speaker
Samuel Misko, PhD
Project Manager – Commercial & DoD Programs
Automotive Vehicle Mobility (AVM) Program
The University of Alabama at Birmingham
Mr. Misko has more than 14 years of Electrical Engineering and Project Management experience, with a specialization in the
development of embedded systems, instrumentation, measurements, and all aspects of electromechanical system design.
Mr. Misko is the Project Manager for Commercial and DoD Programs at UAB's Engineering and Innovative Technology
Development group (EITD). His core expertise lies in his ability to develop and lead multi-disciplinary teams
towards implementation of unique and mission critical hardware and software solutions for a wide range of R&D
applications and clients - including the US Army, NASA, DoE, and NIH.
Starting as a contractor for the USAF in 2009, Mr. Misko developed expertise in the development and implementation of
unique instrumentation systems for measurement of structural response and material characterization for blast
protection. After joining UAB EITD in 2013, Mr. Misko immediately began development and implementation of novel
hardware solutions for a number of NASA payloads as part of the EITD Electrical Engineering team and began to
lead efforts to pursue and deliver unique embedded hardware and software solutions for medical device and
environmental monitoring applications with private industry and government customers such as the NIH and DoE.
In 2020, Mr. Misko began working as Program Coordinator to begin building out the Autonomous Vehicle Mobility
Institute (AVMI) at UAB; where he continues to manage the development of unique co-simulation frameworks for
the AVMI Simulator of Autonomous Mobility (SAM) and novel approaches to Autonomous Perception in off-road
unstructured environments.
