Summit Speaker
Tamer Wasfy, PhD
Advanced Science and Automation Corp
Tamer Wasfy is the founder and chairman of Advanced Science and Automation Corp. (founded in 1998). Dr. Wasfy received his Ph.D.
in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia University in 1994. Dr. Wasfy's research and development areas include: flexible multibody
dynamics, finite element modeling of solids and fluids, discrete element method, smoothed particle hydrodynamics, fluid-structure
interaction, vehicle dynamics, terramechanics, tire mechanics, belt-drive mechanics, visualization of numerical simulation results,
engineering applications of virtual-reality, and artificial intelligence. He has over 30 years of experience in developing software
tools, working on industrial projects, and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses related to those areas. He authored and
co-authored over 120 peer-reviewed publications and gave over 80 presentations at international conferences and invited lectures
in those areas. He received two ASME best conference paper awards as first author. He is the software architect of IVRESS
(computational mechanics and scientific visualization code), which is used by industry, government agencies, and academic
institutions. He served as technical team member in six NATO Research Task Groups related to simulation of ground autonomous and
crewed vehicles on off-road terrains. He was the lead for the Complex Terramechanics Thrust Area for NATO Research Task Groups 248
and 327 on Next Generation NATO Reference Mobility Model. Dr. Wasfy is a member of ASME, SAE, AIAA, and ASEE.
