Biography
Tonya has B.S., M.S., and Ph.D degrees in Mechanical Engineering from MSU. Prior to graduate school, Tonya worked at Dow Chemical\'s engineering office in Houston ,TX for over 8 years, where she served as the lead mechanical engineer for several capital projects ranging from $5 million to over $50 million, and located as far away as Rheinmuenster, Germany. In 2005, Tonya was selected as an NSF Graduate Research Fellow. She is a member of American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Advancing Powder Metallurgy International (APMI), National Society of Black Engineers, and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).
Research Interest
Multiscale Materials Modeling, Mechanical Behavior of Materials, Nanomechanics/Nanomaterials

Real materials are typically very complex with microstructures spanning multiple length scales, from nanoscale to macroscale. Dr. Stone\'s fundamental research activities are focused on experimental and computational studies on the relationship between structure, property, and performance across length scales in a variety of material systems, such as metal powders, biological materials, and polymers.
